The ACTS Retreat Foundation (ARF) exists for two very simple, yet tremendously important reasons. To provide financial assistance to:
- Individuals, through parishes who would otherwise not be able to attend an ACTS retreat.
- ACTS Missions, in support of their efforts to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.
When the concept of ARF was initially set forth, our goals were quite basic: to provide a few retreat scholarships to specific parishes as well as selected parishes in the West and South sides of San Antonio. Additionally, we wanted to begin supporting ACTS Missions.
We were soon overwhelmed by the need to help others. Not only did we strive to answer the call for help for retreatants, we also managed to help the ACTS Community of Biloxi, MS ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. The founders, Polo Cervantes, Frank Salinas, Joe Hemmi, and Mike Stehling, soon realized that we would not be successful without reaching out to others.
Out of care for others, with the help of others, ARF was born. Since our inception we have given scholarships to parishes in all of the ACTS Missions states throughout the United States. In addition we have supported parishes in Honduras, Mexico and South Africa.
ARF is located off I-35 just south of downtown at 1303 S. Comal. Thanks to the generosity of Dennis Palmieri, Vice President of Mercy Medical and a devoted ACTS bother, this facility is being provided to ARF at no cost.
